Buttering up with Boy Butter's EYAL FELDMAN by Herb Sosa
A while back I had the opportunity to meet Eyal in Miami Beach, and the more I get to know about the tall, dark & handsome man with the piercing grey-green eyes and boyish smile, the more I want to know.  He's ever -evolving, focused and driven.  He is a man of his word & conviction, passionate, hard-working and pretty easy on the eyes as well.
Amongst his many accomplishments, he is the founder, CEO & face of
Boy Butter Personal Lubricants.
I sat down with Eyal for
AMBIENTE for a quick one-on-one, he is ALWAYS on the go after all, and this is how it went...

Why personal lubricants?I was already working for a quasi-fetish clothing company for a few years before I came up with the name Boy Butter, which I thought would be a perfect name for a personal lubricant. So I found it to be not a stretch for me to branch off in that direction since I was already involved with Sexual themed industry.

How did you go from wanting to be a teacher to developing a line of
personal products? Explain that journey a bit more.
Well I loved school and thought that teaching would be a worthwhile
thing to do. After college in San Diego, I moved across the country to
NYC to begin a job and business apprenticeship with Nasty Pig Inc. (the
quasi fetish clothing company I mentioned earlier). I learned the ins and
out of running a business and having developed those skills it allowed me
to actualize a business idea and thus Boy Butter was born.
What was the biggest learning experience in developing a product line? The biggest learning experience is finding exactly what the customer
would like. I am not only the president but I am also head of the research
department and I learned a heck of a lot in trials and from volunteers
who helped me find the perfect slickness for my product.  The Biggest
challenge? The biggest challenge for me is always putting up and
working a sales booth at a public show, street festival, or any fetish
event. Getting in front of people and selling something is always a
challenge.
You seem to have a lot of interests beyond Boy Butter, travel, heritage,
photography, etc  – What motivates and impassions you and why?

I am more than just Boy Butter of course just like anyone is more than the
thing they are best known for. I am constantly evolving and improving
upon myself and to do that requires a lot of different stimuli. Travel has
always been a passion of mine and there is nothing more adventurous
then finding yourself in a new part of the world and exploring.
My heritage as a Jewish person is always a source of strength and
pride for me and being a part of a 3800 years old culture is always mind
blowing to think about.
On the subject of my latest hobby, photography, which has been a
slight obsession with me since I downloaded the Hipstamatic Camera
app to my iPhone, I love it.
Swimming has always been a integral part of my life and I swim about 2
miles a day, in fact every summer I run a marathon swim across a large
body of water around the world raise funds for my favorite organizations.

Tell me about your recent swim across the Dead Sea.  Why did you do it?

Every summer I swim across a large body of water to raise money for my
favorite organizations that serve the Gay and Jewish communities in the
U.S. I started marathon swimming in 2008 and my first swim was across the
St. Lawrence River from NY to Canada and back, 6 mile swim and raised
close to $2000 for SAGE (Services and Advocacy for the Gay Elderly) in
Manhattan.  In 2009 I swam from Sayville to Fire Island Pines across the
Great Long Island Bay 3.5 miles and raised several thousand for the
Stonewall Community Fund.  In 2010 I decided to swim across the Sea of
Galilee 6 miles in Israel and I called the swim
Jesus Walked I Swam, which I
thought was really funny and we raised close to $4000 for the Jewish Home
for the Aging in Los Angeles and SAGE in NYC. The next swim I have
planned this summer will probably be Lake Wansee in Berlin, you will hear
more about it by reading my blog,
www.boybutter.blogspot.com.
You are not only the CEO, but the face of Boy Butter.  Has that helped in
promoting the line?  Has it affected your personal life?

Anytime a person can be the creator as well as the spokesmodel for the
product it is a definite plus. People trust me more because I am so heavily
invested with Boy Butter so they feel greater trust with the product itself.
Boy Butter is a great product and it serves a real need out there for a
better and more fun sexual experience which I feel I have  provided for
years and will continue to do so, happily. My personal life has been
affected positively because people recognize me and I am actually
called Boy Butter on the street more than I am called by my own name,
Eyal, I think cause it's easier to say in English. But i take it all in fun and I love
that kind of attention, its a total blast.

Have you ever been in front of the camera professionally before Boy Butter?

I flirted with modeling and performing on stage, flagging at Circuit parties
way back in the late 90's and early 2000's when I was a wee lad, as wee a
lad of 6'7'' and 225 lbs could be I guess. The real model in the family is my
real life super model sister, Donna Feldman,

For those that only know Calabasas, California for the Kardashians, tell us
what it was like growing up there, vs living in NYC.

My parents live in Hidden Hills, CA which is a gated city within Calabasas
and I never met the Kardashians but am happy for their success and wish
them well.  Calabasas was the perfect place to grow up, liberal, beautiful,
affluent, kind gentle residents. The School System is amazing and my
parents still live there happily, so I am really proud to come from there and
be able to visit many times a year. But living in NYC is just different cause it
is full of non-stop energy and I feel like I can do more with my career while
living among the rat racers.
Your job & life afford you the ability & requirement of traveling the world.
What have you gained from these travels?

I learned loads from my travels, which I have been doing on my own since I
was 19. I've been to a lot of places and there are so many places yet to
visit. Starting this February I shall embark upon a 3 month long world tour
promoting Boy Butter on board of the Caribbean Atlantis Gay Cruise, then
Costa Rica, to the that we will be on as well as Mardi Gras in Sydney
Australia, I'll hand out samples to the lady boys and pedophiles and their
lovers in Bangkok, Vietnam which is aptly named I hear before we head
west to Israel, Croatia, Spain, Germany and Iceland before returning home
to NYC. Phew, I'm exhausted just saying my itinerary.
What advice would you
have for the young entrepreneur out there wanting
to be the next Eyal?

If you have a good idea, I say go for it but make sure you can afford it too.
While going after your dream, do not give up your day job I worked full
time while pursuing Boy Butter as a hobby for several years. Sometimes it
takes 20 years to be an overnight success, as my momma always says.
What is next for Boy Butter?  Eyal?

What is next for Boy Butter and Eyal is the debut of several new products.
Boy Butter Fresca which is a mild cooling lubricant with a hint of menthol,
which the tag line is: It will put the tingle in the mingle. And I can attest, it
does. Also we have Boy Butter Clear which is our first water based gel
lubricant. It is amazing, travel sized and powerful, it aims to please as do I.
So keep an eye out for that on
www.boybutter.com and the official Boy
Butter store,
www.shoplube.com.
